Fencing (Session 1: June 8-13; Session 2: June 15-20) Parents and Young Fencers: (ages 10-18)
Thank you for considering the Falcon Fencing Camp this summer! Fencing is a very physical, strategic, and technical sport. It can also be discouraging and frustrating as well as challenging and rewarding.
The Falcon Fencing Camp is primarily a technique, strategy, and skills camp. Our goal is to afford campers an opportunity to practice and develop their skills while receiving excellent instruction from successful intercollegiate coaches and fencers.
We emphasize basic fencing techniques and skills from all three weapons - epee, foil, and sabre and provide a great deal of information on everything necessary to become a successful fencer in a relatively short period of time. ALL CAMPERS MUST BE FULLY EQUIPPED IN ORDER TO ATTEND CAMP. THIS IS NOT A "LEARN-TO-FENCE" CAMP!
Fencing equipment should include but is not limited to: ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Fencing Jacket ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Knickers ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Long socks ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Mask ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Fencing glove ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Body Cord ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Athletic shoes (fencing shoes) ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Electric weapon of choice ÃÆ'à € 'à ‚¬ ' ¢' ¬ ¢ Underarm protector
In addition to these items, campers need to wear athletic shorts and t-shirts every day for other activities besides fencing.
On an average day, fencers will spend a couple hours exercising and stretching, an hour playing games, lunch hour, a couple of hours learning and perfecting fencing skills and a couple hours fencing each other.
Again, thank you for considering Falcon Fencing Camp. We are confident it will be a rewarding experience for young fencers and will contribute to their future success in fencing.
