Player Diary
Sept. 24, 2002
As the ball fell to ground on the opposing team's side of the court, it thunderously hammered the last point of the match into the score board; I thought to myself this is the team that I have been waiting for.
As we screamed and hugged in the middle of the court, almost knocking each other over with excitement, I felt what a winner strives to feel every time they compete, success. As the fans gathered around it was obvious victory was no longer something we wished for, it was something we held in our hands, something everyone was proud to be a part of.
We all realized that the long practices, the sprints, the lifting at 5:30 in the morning had only prepared us more and it was all worth it. We have raised the bar, Air Force volleyball is a force to be reckoned with, and the weekend ahead will only bring us that much closer to our goal of overcoming our loss record in the conference and prevailing in the heat of battle.
For the first time in two years I truly feel we are a cohesive unit moving toward the same goals.
