Bret Weaver arrived at the Academy in 2013 after working for four years aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, “best known as the former location of the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School (NFWS), its TOPGUN training program and the movie of the same name,” and was also assigned to serve as Athletic Trainer on Naval Air Station North Island in the SMART clinic system. Prior to his work with the Marine Corps, he worked as the Lead Athletic Trainer for an injury prevention program contracted with the Boeing Company at its three largest sites throughout the Puget Sound.
Weaver received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and Master’s Degree from Salisbury University, MD. He has held Head Athletic Trainer positions at two colleges and Lead Athletic Trainer in the industrial setting for aircraft manufacturing. He holds various certifications from National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Weaver is prior Active Duty Air Force and volunteers with the World Games for the Deaf which is supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
