Dave Toller was named assistant athletic director for media relations in 2008. He in the primary contact for ice hockey, men’s and women’s swimming, golf and water polo and is the secondary contact for football. He is also responsible for the content on the official athletic website, GoAirForceFalcons.com.
Toller started at the Academy full-time in the fall of 1990 as an assistant sports information director. He was promoted to associate SID in 2001. During his time at the Academy, Toller has worked with each of Air Force’s 27 sports. Toller has received several CoSIDA national awards for his writing and publications.
In 2016-17, the Air Force communications staff was recognized nationally in 2016-17 with the Super 11 Award by the Football Writers Association of America as the best media relations staff in the Mountain West and one of the 11 best nationally.
Toller has served on numerous committees at the conference, regional and national levels, most recently the Atlantic Hockey branding committee in 2015. He has served as the color analyst for Air Force hockey radio broadcasts since 2001.
A 1990 graduate of the University of Southern Colorado, now Colorado State-Pueblo, Toller earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism and a minor in sociology. He spent four years working in the sports information office and on the school newspaper, moving from sports writer to sports editor and managing editor. He also worked a the student radio station.
Originally from Walsenburg, Colo., he is married to the former Verna Pisarczyk, currently the business operations manager at the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. The couple has three children, twins Jake and Jordan, and Jimmy.
