Parents and Dancers Welcome:
Join us for our Bolts Dance Team Prep Clinics! This clinic is open to current high school students interested in dancing here at the Academy and want to start preparing for both the Academy application process and trying out for our program.
With our guests choreographers, we will work on elements that our team is looking for: pom, hip hop, game day and dance technique! Be sure to look at what each session will cover! If you are unable to attend either of the first two clinics, but can attend the review clinic on 15 March, please contact Coach J so that he can get you the videos for review so that you are prepared/arrive ready! Please see below for more info on our guest choreographers!
Choreographers
Pom – Alyssa Jacobs:
Alyssa Jacobs has nearly 23 years of dance experience as a dancer, teacher and choreographer. She started her dance journey at the young age of three and danced competitively in the Minneapolis area until she graduated high school. Alyssa attended the nationally recognized Larkin Dance Studio where she trained in all styles of dance with top industry choreographers, earned numerous accolades as a soloist and team member and helped her studio win Studio of the Year at The Dance Awards. Alyssa then attended The Ohio State University where she was a three-year member of the varsity dance team while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. While on the team, Alyssa helped her squad to two home routine wins at UDA camp and three National Championships at UDA College Nationals while supporting many of the university's 36 sports at various games and community events. Of those national championships, Alyssa was a part of the program's very first that kickstarted an era of dominance for the program. A three-time scholar athlete, Alyssa spent her senior year working towards her professional goal of obtaining a career in the sports industry and earning her Master’s Degree in Sports Management. Upon graduation, she moved to Colorado and began her career in the Olympic Movement. She now works in communications for Team USA while teaching and choreographing at the Denver-based Starstruck Academy of Dance. Alyssa enjoys choreographing and consulting with collegiate and high school dance teams across the country while training dancers in a studio environment where her love for dance began.
Hip Hop – Ariana Ellis:
Ariana Ellis has over 21 years of experience in competitive, college and professional level dance. Ariana is a 6-time Division IA College National Champion with the UNLV Rebel Girls and Company Program in both the Hip Hop and Game Day Divisions. Ariana is a 4-year veteran and is currently a second-year captain with the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders.
If possible, we highly recommend stopping by the USAFA Visitor Center. If interested/want to know more, we encourage you to apply for the Summer Seminar on our Academy Admissions page! Be sure to give us a follow on Instagram at @af_spirit! Be sure to look out for our upcoming Summer 2025 Session!
What to wear:
Please be sure to bring both dance shoes (jazz shoe or turners) and tennis shoes to both sessions. Black dance/bike shorts and leggings are best. Sweatpants to change into for hip hop will also be allowed. Please wear either a black tank top or shirt that covers the midriff. Hair in a middle part, low pony. No jewelry, please. Please be sure to bring water and a snack for the break. Dancing at altitude can be a lot on the body. The more hydrated you are, the better prepared you’ll be!
