AIR FORCE HIGHLIGHTS

Two-Time All-Mountain West

JUNIOR YEAR | 2023: Competed in five meets…scored for the Falcons in every team competition…earned second-team all-conference honors following a top-10 performance at the Mountain West Championships (career-best 20:32.6, ninth)…also recorded the Falcons’ No. 2 finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational, posting a time of 21:18.9 to place within the top half of the field (122nd)…added a 21:14.5 finish at the NCAA Mountain Regional (70th)…Air Force’s top finisher at the Virginia Invitational, using a 5K time of 17:26.5 to finish 76th in the 211-runner field…opened the season with a three-mile time of 18:04 at the Air Force Classic (fourth)…earned the team’s Most Improved award…academic all-conference.

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2022: Raced in four 6K meets, including the conference and regional championships…Falcons’ No. 3 runner at both the Cowboy Jamboree (21:31.5, 71st) and Nuttycombe Invitational (personal-best 21:09.7, 146th)…also scored for the Falcons at the NCAA Mountain Regional after finishing within the top half of the field (21:28.0, 62nd)…added a 21:37.2 at the Mountain West Championships (50th)…opened the season with a third-place finish at the Air Force Classic (17:33, three miles)…academic all-conference selection.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2021: Participated in five meets…Falcons’ top finisher at the Woody Greeno/John Dirksen Invitational after clocking a 5K time of 17:39.1 to finish sixth out of 213 runners…member of the Falcons’ scoring lineup in two 6K races – NCAA Mountain Regional (21:46.4, 55th), Nuttycombe Invitational (21:46.9, 166th)…posted a career-best time of 21:26.8 at the Mountain West Championships (50th)…clocked a three-mile time of 17:43.2 in collegiate debut at the Air Force Open…academic all-conference selection…Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.

MAJOR TRACK AND FIELD HIGHLIGHTS: Claimed all-conference honors in the 5000-meter run after finishing third at the 2024 Mountain West Outdoor Championships…recorded the fourth-fastest time in Academy history at that distance (16:10.60) at the Drake Relays in 2024…also ran on the 4x1600-meter relay that posted the third-fastest time in Academy history (19:45.96) at that meet…received the team’s Most Improved award as a junior.

HIGH SCHOOL: Hockinson High School…finished third at the Washington 2A Cross Country Championships as a junior…also placed within the top 10 of the state meet as a sophomore (eighth)…also earned an eighth-place finish in the 3200-meter run (2019) and a top-12 finish in the 1600-meter run (11th, 2018) at the state’s 2A track and field championships…graduated high school with a weighted 4.0 GPA…member of two WIAA Cross Country Academic State Champion teams (2018, 2019).

PERSONAL: Full name is Allyson Leigh Peterson…goes by Ally…daughter of Lance and Melissa Peterson…has two older brothers – Kyle, who ran cross country and track at the University of Montana, and Tyler, who ran cross country for Clark Community College…also has one younger sister…hobbies include reading, baking and telling dad jokes…favorite upper body exercise is pull-ups…grandfather served in the Air Force during Vietnam…has an uncle that was a 1991 Academy graduate and served as a pilot for 21 years…member of Cadet Squadron 16.
