SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2023: Competed in three Colorado-based meets…Falcons’ top finisher at the Roadrunner Invitational…clocked a time of 25:12.82 to finish fifth out of 108 runners and lead Air Force to the team title…named the Mountain West Runner of the Week following that meet…posted a career-best time of 25:05.0 to finish third in the 111-runner UCCS Open…opened the season with a five-mile time of 26:28 at the Air Force Classic (eighth).
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2022: Competed in three meets…made collegiate debut at the Air Force Classic, clocking a four-mile time of 21:36 to finish 16th…posted a career-best 8K time of 25:55.6 to finish 69th out of 323 runners at the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational…added a 27:21.3 finish at the UCCS Open (35th)…competed in the USATF U20 Championships, finishing 26th with an 8K time of 25:11.5.
HIGH SCHOOL: Buchanan High School…three-time all-league and two-time all-Valley selection…ran on the 4x800-meter relay that won Arcadia as a junior…holds the BHS record in that event…also set school records in the distance medley relay and 3200-meter run…ran on the DMR that was ranked fourth in the country…set personal-best times of 4:16 (1600-meter run), 9:02 (3200-meter run) and 14:39 (three-mile)…named Runner of the Year as a senior…also played soccer for two years…member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Link Crew…played Powderpuff as a senior…graduated with a 4.3 GPA…took seven AP classes…lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation.
PERSONAL: Full name is Brenton James Maddox…nickname is “Wags”…son of Benjamin and Alison Maddox…father served five years as a Corpsman in the Navy…has a twin sister…also has two younger siblings…majoring in quantitative economics…future plans include becoming a C-130 pilot…attended the high school that hosts the Mountain West Outdoor Championships…hobbies includes shooting, hunting, reading, golfing, skiing, and traveling with family…faith is very important to him…has an uncle and grandfather that served in the Navy…member of Cadet Squadron 15.
