JUNIOR YEAR | 2019: Competed in five meets, including the conference and regional championships...was the Falcons’ top finisher at the UCCS Open, recording an 8K time of 24:41.2 to finish second out of 127 runners...clocked a personal-best time of 24:10.1 to score for Air Force at the Mountain West Championships (32nd)...added a time of 24:44.7 at the Bill Dellinger Invitational (64th)...was the Falcons’ No. 2 runner at the NCAA Mountain Regional, clocking a 10K time of 31:52.8 to finish 49th out of 129 runners...opened the season with a sixth-place finish at the Air Force Open (four-mile time of 20:53.0).
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2018: Competed in two meets...finished 27th out of 92 runners at the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational after clocking an 8K time of 25:52.9...added a time of 26:03.80 to place within the top 50 (42nd) in the 8K Gold Race at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open (154 total runners).
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2017: Competed in three meets...recorded a top-20 finish at the Woody Greeno Invitational after finishing the 8K course in a time of 26:37.2...added an 8K time of 27:18.6 to finish 35th out of 127 runners at the Rocky Mountain Shootout...opened the season with a 5K time of 16:06.7 at the Colorado State Invitational (63rd).
MAJOR TRACK AND FIELD HIGHLIGHTS: Earned all-conference honors as a member of the distance medley relay team that finished second at the 2020 Mountain West Indoor Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lafayette High School...all-state honoree in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track all four years...member of the cross country team that won the Virginia 3A state title...also competed on the indoor track team that won the state title...ran on the 4x800-meter relay that won the outdoor state title...finished second in the 1600-meter run at that meet.
PERSONAL: Son of Randy and Audrey Steck...nickname is “Pinky”...has one older brother, Kurtis, who attended The College of William and Mary...majoring in management...future plans include becoming a pilot...served as Element Leader...named to the Dean’s List and Athletic Director’s List...has an extensive model train collection...avid shoe collector...hobbies include tutoring Hunter Boyer and aspiring to be a pickleball world champion...took various little dragon karate training sessions as a small boy...completed the Academy’s Powered Flight course over the summer...member of Cadet Squadron 26.
