SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2021: Competed in five meets, including the conference and regional championships…earned the team’s Most Improved Award…member of the Falcons’ top five in every scored meet…clocked a career-best 6K time of 20:37.5 to finish as the Falcons’ No. 3 runner at the Mountain West Championships (25th)…also scored for Air Force as the No. 5 finisher at the Bill Dellinger Invitational (21:40.7, 96th), Nuttycombe Invitational (21:59.9, 194th) and NCAA Mountain Regional (21:59.9, 64th).
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2020: Competed in both meets of the pandemic-shortened season…clocked a personal-best 6K time of 21:58.5 at the Mountain West Championships (50th)…earned a top-25 finish in collegiate debut at the Silver State Challenge (22:29.9, 25th).
MAJOR TRACK AND FIELD HIGHLIGHTS: Earned all-conference honors as a sophomore after leading off the distance medley relay that finished third at the Mountain West Indoor Championships…debuted on the program’s all-time steeplechase standings as a freshman (10:58.00, eighth all-time)…deleted more than 23 seconds off that time as a sophomore, finishing the year with a 10:34.57 performance at the 2022 MW Outdoor Championships (fifth all-time).
HIGH SCHOOL: Fort Wayne Carroll High School...earned all-state honors twice in cross country...finished sixth at the IHSAA Championships in 2018, after clocking a time of 18:30...claimed another top-20 finish (19th) at the 2019 state meet...placed second in the 1600-meter run (5:00) at the regional track meet as a senior...earned Honors with Distinction...academic all-state honoree...member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Full name is Monroe Rayna Fruchey...goes by Rayna...daughter of Michael and Naomi Fruchey...both parents competed in cross country and track at Taylor University...has two older siblings, including a sister who ran cross country and track at Southern Utah University...majoring in geospatial science…minoring in Space Warfighting…already completed requirements for a minor in Japanese...future plans include working in the intelligence field…named to the Athletic Director’s List as a freshman...hobbies include riding horses, reading novels and playing video games...very interested in Japanese culture...favorite song will forever be “All Star” by Smash Mouth…traveled to Beale AFB, Calif., over the summer for Operation Air Force…also taught urban evasion during Combat Survival Training and spent time with family...member of Cadet Squadron 27.
