PERSONAL: Member of cadet squadron 20 … daughter of Xiangdong and Muning Mi … has a younger sister … considering biochemistry major … future career plan is to attend dental school … Why I decided to come to the Academy: “I decided to attend USAFA as it holds many amazing qualities and opportunities. I believe the most appealing quality of the Academy is how it focuses on the individual student, as it sets the student on a route to become a leader. Unlike other universities, the USAFA is one of the few schools that focuses on one’s character and leadership development. In addition, the Academy provides a world-class education, and I am excited to apply the research techniques I have learned in a typical classroom to -life experiences. Moreover, the Academy provides many opportunities for students to work together, allowing one to build teamwork and leadership skills. I believe working with students that come from varying backgrounds can only help me build a stronger character. Not only does the Academy focus on academics and pushing a student to become their best possible self, but it also focuses on the student’s athletics and extracurriculars, something that not many other universities do. While some students are drawn away from the Academy as the environment is one of rigorous structure, this is the environment that I personally strive for.
