2016-17 (Sophomore): Three wins on the season ... placed sixth in senior foil at Nick Toth Open.
2015-2016 (Freshman): Finished 16th in both senior and junior mixed foil at the Amarillo Open ... went 4-7 at the Northwestern Dual ... placed 74th in Division II individual women’s foil at the NAC (Baltimore) in December.
Before the Academy: Qualified for state four years in a row in cross country … competed in track and field … qualified in hurdles at the sub-districts … in golf, sub-districts qualifier … finished in the top 10 of her class … was an outstanding student in six academic classes … Rotary Club Outstanding Senior of the Month … started fencing in 2015 ... goals are to continually improve her fencing skills; work hard no matter what, and be a role model for other cadets.
Personal: Member of cadet squadron 37 … daughter of David and Valerie Ryan … legal studies major … future career plans are to become a paralegal or JAG … active in her squadron as the Chief First Line Supervisor … during the summer prior to her sophomore season, completed ESET – survival training and completed a summer academic class in engineering mechanics 220 … hobbies are running, reading, watching movies, listening to music and playing piano … decided to come to the Academy, “for the incredible opportunities, to continue selfless service on a global and national level, along with challenging me to grow to be a better person.” … began fencing at age 18 … pre-competition superstition is to start off using a specific foil blade for every tournament … dream vacation spot is Queensland, Australia … guilty pleasure is shopping … favorite role model is Condoleezza Rice … something most people don’t know about her is that she’s half Australian … enjoys listening to alternative music … favorite TV show is Lost … favorite movie is Dark Knight … favorite class subject is Law … favorite athlete is Hope Solo and favorite team is the Seattle Mariners .
