HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Was a four year letterwinner for Lewis-Palmer High School, while also swimming club for the Falfins…Named a team captain his senior year…Earned All-Area First Team honors by the Colorado Springs Gazette his sophomore, junior, and senior years…Took third at the 5A State Championships in the 100 breast, earning a Speedo Junior Nationals Cut and setting a new school record…Also placed seventh in the 50 free at state championships…Was a member of the National Honor Society and was the NHS President his junior year…Also a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Member of cadet squadron 39…Son of Steven and Elizabeth Orie…Undecided on a major, but plans to become a combat rescue officer…Credits his high school coach, Alan Arata, as having the biggest impact on his swimming career…Both parents are retired members of the Air Force…Both grandfathers served as well, Burl in the Air Force and Bernard in the Army, while numerous aunts and uncles are also current or former members of the USAF…Can play the violin, mandolin, ukulele, and guitar…Hobbies include hiking, backpacking, skating, and music…Chose the Academy “To continue the Air Force family line, and to be part of something much bigger than myself.”
