FRESHMAN YEAR | 2023-24: Recorded Air Force Top 10 marks in the long jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons…also debuted on the program’s all-time standings in the 60-meter hurdles, pentathlon and heptathlon…became the eighth athlete in Air Force history to surpass 18-feet in the indoor long jump, recording a leap of 18’1¾” during collegiate debut at the Air Force Holiday Open…improved that distance to a career-best 18’3¼” (No. 6 all-time) at the Air Force Last Chance…debuted at No. 8 on the program’s outdoor standings with an 18’1” performance at the Bobcat Invitational…also recorded an Air Force Top 10 mark in the heptathlon after collecting 4279 points at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships…debuted at No. 11 in that event after tallying 4199 points at the Bryan Clay Invitational…impacted the program’s all-time standings in the pentathlon (3089 at the MW Indoor Championships, No. 12), 60-meter dash (7.92 t the Ari Force Holiday Open, No. 19) and 60-meter hurdles (9.38 at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, No. 25) during the indoor season…academic all-conference.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ronald Reagan High School…Texas 6A state qualifier in the 4x100-meter relay…regional champion in that event as a junior…ran on the area and district championship 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams…qualified to the Texas Relays in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and 4x100-meter relay…AAU Junior Olympics qualifier in the heptathlon…personal-best marks include 12.36 (100-meter dash), 18’10” (long jump), 14.99 (100-meter hurdles)…also competed in volleyball, basketball, and beach volleyball…member of the National Honor Society…graduated Summa Cum Laude…second-team academic all-state selection…named to the All-District Athletic-Academic Team all four years.
PERSONAL: Full name is Kayla Lucille Beach…daughter of David and Malia Beach…step-daughter of Kristen Beach…father played football at the University of Maryland…has one older sister, who is enlisted in the Air Force…also has two younger siblings (one brother, one sister)…majoring in biology…earning a minor in sustainability…future plans include becoming a bioenvironmental engineer…named to the Superintendent’s List for excellence in military, academic and athletic performance…currently serving as a squadron supervisor…born in Hawaii and grew up in California…hobbies include surfing and going to the beach…favorite food is sushi…favorite movie is Surf’s Up…competed Powered Flight and Combat Survival Training over the summer…would like to thank God and her parents “for the position I’m in today”…member of Cadet Squadron 34.
