JUNIOR YEAR | 2024-25: Competed in the discus throw during nine meets…recorded a season-best throw of 169’4” to finish second at the Air Force Twilight Open…also finished second at the Doug Max Invitational (167’3”)…competed in the hammer throw three times, posting a career-best mark of 162’11” at the Kit Mayer Classic…competed in the weight throw four times during the indoor season…recorded a career-best throw of 50’10½” in season-opener at the Wyoming Power Meet.
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2023-24: Competed in the discus throw during seven meets…debuted at No. 17 on the Academy’s all-time standings during a 174’4” performance at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate…won the Bobcat Invitational after producing a throw of 172’10”…collected top-five finishes in two additional meets…threw the hammer twice outdoors, posting a personal-best 156’0” at the Air Force Twilight Open…competed in the weight throw once indoors.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2022-23: Did not compete.
HIGH SCHOOL: Niceville Senior High School…Florida 4A state champion in the discus throw…ranked in the Top 10 for high school discus throwers as a senior…finished third in that event at the Texas Relays…undefeated during senior season in Florida…finished eighth at the state meet as a junior…four-time recipient of the Anne T. Mitchell Academic Award
PERSONAL: Full name is Massimo Orion Grisotto…nickname is Mass...son of Andrea Grissoto and Onnie Retkofsky…father graduated from the Italian Naval Academy and mother is an Air Force Academy graduate…has two siblings (one older, one younger)…majoring in business management…future plans include becoming a pilot…currently serving as Chief of Staff and Wing AD Liaison…worked both sessions of Basic Cadet Training over the summer, serving as an Assistance Flight Commander during the first session and cadre for Land Navigation in Jack’s Valley during the second session…also took an academic class (philosophy)…member of Cadet Squadron 24.
