SENIOR YEAR | 2020-21: Team captain.

JUNIOR YEAR | 2019-20: Mountain West Indoor champion in the pole vault...two-time MW Field Athlete of the Week...debuted in ninth on the program’s all-time indoor standings after registering a career-best clearance of 17’6½” at the Air Force Invitational...that clearance was ranked 22nd in the nation during the 2020 season...earned first weekly conference award following that meet...repeated the MW honor after earning the top collegiate finish at the Air Force Collegiate Open (17’2¾”)...cleared 16’10¾” to win the MW Indoor title, leading Air Force to a 1-2-3-5-6 finish in that event...earned all-conference honors for the fifth-straight championship meet...also accounted for first-place finishes at the Air Force Holiday Open (then-best 17’0¾”) and Potts Invitational (15’11”)...collected top-five overall finishes in seven of eight meets...named the Air Force Athlete of the Week once...earned the program’s Falcon Award for Spirit and Enthusiasm...academic all-conference selection...MW Scholar-Athlete...captured CoSIDA Academic All-America honors...named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2018-19: Two-time all-conference honoree in the pole vault...NCAA qualifier...two-time Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week...recorded a career-best clearance of 16’9½” to place second at the Aztec Invitational during the outdoor season...earned the conference’s weekly honor after that meet...won the pole vault at the Jerry Quiller Classic (15’7”)...finished third at the MW Outdoor Championships after clearing 16’1¼”...helped Air Force to a 1-2-3 conference finish in that event at the conference meet...recorded an indoor-best clearance of 16’8¾” to finish second at the MW Indoor Championships...earned first-place finishes at the Potts Invitational (15’11”), Air Force Invitational (16’6¾”) and Texas Tech Shootout (16’4¾”)...claimed first weekly MW award following the season-opening meet in Boulder...placed within the top three during five of six indoor meets...earned the team’s Field Athlete of the Week award twice...academic all-conference selection...MW Scholar-Athlete.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2017-18: Two-time all-conference honoree in the pole vault...earned the team’s Newcomer of the Year award...posted a career-best clearance of 16’2¾” to finish third at the Mountain West Indoor Championships...matched outdoor-best height of 16’0¾” to place second at the conference’s outdoor meet...first cleared the 16-foot bar during a runner-up finish at the Air Force Invitational (16’0¾”)...equaled that clearance during the outdoor season to finish second at the 7220 Invitational...collected five top-five finishes during the regular season...academic all-conference selection...MW Scholar-Athlete.

HIGH SCHOOL: Carmel High School...four-year letterwinner in track and field...competed in the pole vault...finished fourth in that event at the Indiana High School State Championships...registered a personal-best clearance of 15’6” during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

PERSONAL: Full name is Mitchell Stone Lipe...goes by Mitch...son of James and Mary Lipe...mother played basketball at the University of Arkansas...has a twin brother, Ryan, who competes on the track and field team at the University of Alabama...majoring in aeronautical engineering...future plans include becoming a pilot...currently serving as Assistant Force Support OIC...helped dad with projects around the house and tried to get tan over the summer...would like to add that “I’m just trying to look like Wyatt Murphy or Calvin Ciganik one day”...member of Cadet Squadron 07.
