JUNIOR YEAR | 2024-25: Two-time All-American…captured first-team status in the hammer throw after placing fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships…five-time NCAA Qualifier…repeated as the USTFCCCA Men’s Regional Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year…Mountain Outdoor Athlete of the Year…also repeated as the Field Performer of the Meet at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships…used meet record performances to successfully defend his conference titles in the discus and hammer…four-time all-conference selection…Mountain West Record Holder in the hammer throw (248’9”)…set Air Force and Service Academy Records in the indoor shot put (63’7”), weight throw (76’11¾”), discus throw (208’7”) and hammer throw…that discus distance is ranked No. 4 in conference history…broke the 42-year-old facility record in the hammer throw at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex with a 246’7” throw at the Air Force Twilight Open…also set a venue record for Veterans Memorial Stadium (240’5”) at the MW Outdoor Championships…set a Meet Record at the Doug Max Invitational (241’9”)…averaged a 25-foot advantage over the field in six hammer throw victories…placed fifth in the discus throw at the USATF Championships…first Air Force thrower to qualifying to the NCAA Indoor Championships in a men’s event…reset his weight throw standard three times during the indoor season, finishing with a distance of 76’11¾” at the Jarvis Scott Open…improved the program’s indoor shot put standard twice…swept indoor titles at the Colorado Classic and Ted Nelson Invitational…set facility records in both the shot put (63’7”) and weight throw (73’0 ½”) at the R.A. “Murray” Fasken ’38 Indoor Track during the Ted Nelson Invitational…that shot put distance was also a Meet Record…four-time Mountain Athlete of the Week…set Air Force Junior Class Records in the shot put, discus throw, weight throw, and hammer throw…named the team’s Most Valuable Athlete for the second-straight year…also earned the program’s Alonzo Babers Outstanding Performance Award for his record-setting 248’9” performance at the Beach Invitational.

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2023-24: Received the team’s Most Valuable Athlete award…named the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year…NCAA Qualifier in the discus throw and hammer throw…two-time Mountain West champion…named Field Performer of the Meet following the MW Outdoor Championships…four-time all-conference honoree…broke the Mountain West, Service Academy and Air Force Record in the hammer throw with a winning 237’4” performance at the Colorado Invitational…first broke the program record with a 219’3” at the Spank Blasing Invitational…improved record two more times (219’0”, 228’11”) before unleashing the 237’4” throw that broke the 21-year-old conference record and the 28-year old service academy record…finished the season with 24 throws that bettered the original program standard in that event…won the hammer throw in four meets, including the MW Outdoor Championships (223’0”)…finished 16th at the NCCA West Prelim and 18th at the U.S. Olympic Trials…set Air Force Records in both indoor throwing events during season debut at the Potts Invitational…recorded a 67’4¼“ in the weight throw and a 60’8¾” in the shot put to win those events…improved weight throw record the following week with a throw of 68’10” at the Ralph Lindeman Classic…added a first-place finish in the weight throw at the Air Force Last Chance…made trips to the podium in both events at the MW Indoor Championships, finishing second in the weight throw (68’9”) and third in the shot put (59’10½”)…also recorded the second-best distances in program history in both the discus throw (194’8” at the Drake Relays) and shot put (60’5¼” at the Colorado Invitational) during the outdoor season…recorded a throw of 189’6” to win the discus at MW Outdoors…added a 16th-place finish in that event at the NCAA West Prelim…picked up first-place finishes at the Colorado Invitational and Air Force Twilight Open…scored for the Falcons in the shot put at the MW Outdoor Championships (fifth)…named the MW Field Athlete of the Week twice…finished the season with Air Force Sophomore Class Records in all three throws.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2022-23: Earned the team’s Newcomer of the Year award…debuted on the program’s Top 10 in three events…all-conference honoree…set Air Force Freshman Class Records in the shot put and weight throw at the Mountain West Indoor Championships…recorded a career-best throw of 57’6½” to finish third in the shot put at the conference meet and capture first all-MW honor…that is the eighth-best throw in Academy history and added four inches to a Class Record that had stood since 2014…also scored for the Falcons in the weight throw at the MW Indoor meet, finishing fifth with a personal-best, Class Record toss of 59’10”…first broke the program’s Freshman Class Record in that event with a toss of 57’8” at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational (No. 13 all-time)…recorded Air Force Outdoor Top 10 marks in the shot put (56’7½”, No. 6 all-time) and hammer throw (194’1”, No. 10) at the Tom Benich Invitational…first debuted at No. 10 on the program’s all-time outdoor shot put standings following a runner-up throw of 55’7¾” at the Dan Caprioglio Early Bird Invitational…scored for the Falcons in both the hammer throw (186’2”, fifth) and discus throw (career-best 167’11”, seventh) at the MW Outdoor Championships…debuted on the program’s Top 20 (No. 19) with that discus throw…two-time Mountain West Freshman of the Week.

HIGH SCHOOL: Sheridan High School…state champion in the discus throw and shot put…claimed the Wyoming 4A title in the discus as a senior…won the indoor shot put at the state meet as a junior…finished second in that event in 2022…recorded career-best marks of 199’9” (discus throw) and 61’11” (shot put)…finished third in the discus at the 2022 Great Southwest Classic…ranked No. 12 among high school discus throwers as a senior…also played football…member of the start championship team…two-time all-state selection…graduated with a 4.1 GPA…ranked within top-10 of graduating class.

PERSONAL: Full name is Texas Ted Tanner…son of Craig Tanner and Gina Light…father is an Academy graduate and former member of the Falcons’ football team…has four brothers and three sisters…majoring in management…long term goal is to compete for Team USA in the Olympics…serving as the Standards and Evaluations Officer…hobbies include lifting, eating, hiking, sleeping and throwing (“I like to throw a big metal ball”)…famous for having a state named after him…member of Cadet Squadron 10.
