SOPHOMORE | 2019-20: Had the sixth-fastest team time on the season in the 1,000 free, as well as the fifth-fastest time in the 400 IM…Named to the AD’s list.
FRESHMAN | 2018-19: One of the top long distance swimmers on the team, as she recorded the fourth fastest 1,000 free time (10:30.54), as well as the fourth fastest 1650 free time (17:24.87)…Named to both the Comm’s and Athletics Honors lists in the fall semester.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Was a four year letterwinner for North Paulding High School, while also swimming club for Stingrays Swimming…Named a team captain and was selected as the Athlete of the Year her senior season…Was also her team’s top all-around point scorer, and was awarded the J.L. Dooley Award…At season’s end, was named by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as the Best All-Around Senior Award winner…Was a member of her high school’s National Honor Society, and was also a representative on the Future of Paulding committee.
PERSONAL: Member of cadet squadron 30…Daughter of Matt and Tara Buzzelli…Has two brothers, Ben and AJ…Majoring in business management with aspirations of becoming a pilot…Nicknames include Buzzy, Buzzuzles, Buzz, Buzzkill, and Ash…Lists her mother and grandfather as her biggest influences on her swimming career…That grandfather, John Bergman, swam for the University of Minnesota, and once participated in the Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 fly…He was also a doctor in the Marines…Chose the Academy because ” I want to be a pilot and this is THE place to go if you want to be the best pilot! Also, the opportunities available during and after graduation are incredible. It is such a blessing to be able to compete and be a cadet for the World’s Greatest Air Force.”
