SOPHOMORE | 2019-20: Has sophomore eligibility but is a freshman cadet after swimming at Rhode Island in 2018-19.
FRESHMAN (Rhode Island) | 2018-19: Swam in 10 events for the Rams…Had 26 top-five finishes, including five event wins.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Was a VA 4A All-State Athlete from 2015-18, and won the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events at the 2015 VA 4A State Championship…Earned Potomac Valley Scholar Athlete recognition from 2015-18, while also winning the 2015 Gauss Award for Math…Was a member of the National Honor Society, German National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society, while also participating in the German Club and the Medical Explorers Club.
PERSONAL: Member of cadet squadron 17…Daughter of Darren and Marcy Hemminger…Has two siblings, Eva and Grete…Undecided on a major but considering behavioral science…Lives across the street from an alpaca farm in Virginia…Credits her Mom as having the greatest influence on her swimming career…Grandfather did Air Force ROTC while at Penn State, while her sister, Grete, did Air Force ROTC at the University of Portland…Hobbies include reading and watching movies…Is a huge fan of Christmas and is ready to celebrate the holiday in August…Chose the Academy “For the wide range of opportunities it offers to its Cadets along with its outstanding academics. Also growing up with strong Air Force influences, it seemed like the only branch of service I could go into. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself and USAFA is the perfect place for that.”
