Bart Horton
EDUCATION

Coach Horton is currently the Course Director for PE 315 at USAFA. PE 315 is the highest level combatives course offered at USAFA, is taken during a Cadet’s Junior year, and is required of all Cadets for graduation. He is responsible for developing and updating the course curriculum, grading procedures and standards, safety protocols, and the development of instructors. PE315 earned the USAFA Physical Education Course of the Year award in 2012-13 and 2019-20. He also oversees the USAFA Combatives Club, which was formally established in the Fall of 2019. The club trains multiple times a week and is for Cadets who want to spend extra time training and competing in combatives and BJJ. Coach Horton is currently a Master Level Instructor for the Air Force Combatives Program. While serving as the Assistant Wrestling Coach from 2007-2019 he gained extensive experience working within the military academy system and supporting and promoting the academy mission.
Before joining USAFA, Horton coached at the University of Missouri- Columbia. While there he recruited and coached the school’s first National Champion and helped earn the school’s highest NCAA finish, along with 6 top 20 team placings. The teams also placed 3 times at the NWCA National Duals and produced 8 All-Americans. In the summers he coached 1,000+ high school wrestling through the Tiger Style Wrestling Camps. He was the Assistant Coach for the BIG XII All-Star team in Seoul, South Korea. Coach Horton competed for Iowa State University while earning his Bachelor of Arts.
