David Laverentz, CPA, CMA, serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation (AFAAC). In this capacity, he maintains executive oversight of the organization's comprehensive financial architecture, including fiscal analysis, regulatory reporting, internal control frameworks, budgeting, and payroll operations. Beyond his core financial mandate, Laverentz acts as a key strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, directly guiding the corporation’s long-term strategic planning and business initiatives. A seasoned corporate accounting executive, Laverentz also serves as a Bank Director and Audit Committee Chairman for a community bank, bringing expert fiduciary oversight to institutional financial statement integrity and risk management.
His extensive background includes serving as a Senior Manager in the audit practice of Big Four accounting firm KPMG, where he led complex corporate audits for public and private entities. He also spent 12 years as the Vice President of Finance and Administration for the Kansas City Royals MLB franchise, and 15 years in the banking sector as a Federal Reserve Bank regulator and commercial lending officer. Mr. Laverentz holds a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University, a master's degree in accountancy from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and has served as a treasurer for multiple charitable boards.
Beyond his executive and corporate governance commitments, Laverentz is dedicated to family and community leadership. He lends his deep financial expertise to the philanthropic sector by serving on the boards of various charitable organizations, ensuring fiscal transparency and long-term sustainability for community programs. He and his wife, Delois, take great pride in the personal and professional accomplishments of their two sons, Daniel and Matthew.
