Drew LaComb was elevated to Head Coach of the Air Force baseball program following the 2026 season. He spent three seasons on the Falcons' staff, serving as the offensive coordinator and hitting coach after joining the Academy in the fall of 2023.
"It is a true honor and a blessing to have the opportunity to be the next head baseball coach at our United States Air Force Academy," expressed LaComb. "I truly believe this is the best baseball coaching position in America because what we do here is different. Our mission within our program is to not only win baseball games, but it is also to develop great men, great husbands, and great fathers who are ready to lead as future officers and warfighters for our country."
In his last season as an assistant (2026), LaComb directed an offense that propelled the Falcons to a 15-9 Mountain West record and a second-place finish in the conference standings, while the team produced the Mountain West Conference Freshman Player of the Year and two All-Conference honorees. On a national level, Air Force's offensive efforts ranked top 25 in the country in multiple categories: stolen bases (157) ranked 4th, batting average (.307) 24th, doubles (127) 11th, runs scored (478)13th, and runs per game (8.7) ranked 9th.
In 2026, the Air Force baseball program set numerous school records in single season stolen bases (157), most conference runs per game (11), most doubles in a single game (13), and most stolen bases in a conference tournament game (12).
During his tenure as an assistant coach for the Falcons, Coach LaComb saw steady production in the Air Force Falcons offense. Over the course of three years, three falcon position players set individual school records, two position players were drafted, two position players were MWC players of the year, and the Air Force offense led the Mountain West in stolen bases all three years.
During the 2024 season, LaComb helped coach the Falcons to an 18-12 Mountain West record resulting in the first Regular Season Championship title in program history. At the plate, Air Force hit 64 home runs, the sixth best in Falcon history, 105 doubles, 20 triples, and totaled 332 RBIs. The Falcons saw five Mountain West All-Conference selections, including MWC Co-Player of the Year, Jay Thomason, and Second Team honorees, Sam Kulasingam and Chase Spencer. Jay Thomason went on to set the MWC career homerun record, and two position players went on to get drafted in the 2024 MLB Draft. Sam Kulasingam was drafted in the 13th round by the Kansas City Royals and Jay Thomason was selected in the 17th round by the Minnesota Twins.
Prior to arriving at the Academy, LaComb served as the head coach for the Rangers at Regis University (RU) for four seasons. Regis continued its steady progression under LaComb in 2023 as the team reached the RMAC Tournament championship game for the first time since 2012, falling to nationally No. 1 ranked Colorado Mesa.
The Rangers, who tied the school record for the longest winning streak (13) during the spring, finished the 2023 season with a 31-24 overall record and third place in the RMAC regular season standings and had a top 10 ranked offense in the country. The 2023 squad set the program record for runs scored (517) and saw first baseman Matt Marlow become the program's first All-American selection since 2018. The 2023 Regis Rangers squad went on to have three players drafted professionally in Ethan Sloan (8th round, Los Angeles Dodgers), Zach Daudet (10th round, Houston Astros), and Blake Shepardson (13th round, Chicago White Sox) and future Division 2 National Player of the Year in Adam Paniagua.

Academically, the Rangers had 21 student-athletes earn RMAC academic recognition while the team won the 2021-22 RMAC Brechler Award for the highest team GPA in the conference (3.433).
In the spring of 2021, LaComb and the Regis University baseball team finished the season 21-19 with a 17-17 record inside of the RMAC. The team opened the season winning 10-straight games, which is now cemented as the best start in program history. Regis qualified for the RMAC Tournament where they matched up with three-seed University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. After falling to UCCS, RU's tournament hopes came to an end at the hands of #1 ranked Colorado Mesa University in the second game of the RMAC Tournament (double-elimination). During the regular season, Regis reached as high as sixth in the NCBWA South Central Regional Poll.
Prior to taking the helm at Regis, LaComb served as an assistant coach for three years at RU. During these years, LaComb helped the Rangers secure three All-Conference, one All-Region, and one national Gold Glove selection. He has helped coach nine additional All-Conference players.
