Assistant athletic trainer Jodi Wotowey joined the Air Force Academy Sports Medicine team in January 2019. The Colorado native’s first Air Force highlight came in February while supporting the Falcons men’s tennis team in its win over Army in Orlando at College Match Day. She looks forward to ongoing victories as the athletic trainer for the Air Force women’ soccer team.
A board certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association since 1993, Wotowey previously served on the sports medicine staffs at Idaho State University, Texas A&M University and Texas Christian University. Most recently she served as the head athletic trainer at Idaho State, overseeing a staff of four and directing the sports medicine care of 13 Division I sports, including football (FCS).
Throughout her 14 years at Idaho State, Wotowey was responsible for the prevention, care, evaluation and rehabilitation of injuries for the student-athletes in all but two of the school’s NCAA sponsored sports. She also spent time in the classroom, serving as an adjunct graduate faculty member and athletic training preceptor.
Before going to Idaho State, Wotowey spent five years at Texas A&M as an athletic trainer for the women’s soccer and softball programs. Wotowey then left Texas A&M to take a position at TCU, where she was the athletic trainer for the men’s and women’s soccer teams, as well as the baseball team. Two short years later, Wotowey was recruited back to Texas A&M to work with fall baseball, volleyball and spring football.
Wotowey received a bachelor’s degree in biology with an emphasis in athletic training at Saint Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas. Throughout her college career, she was an outside hitter for the Saints’ volleyball team and also interned as an athletic training student during the off-season.
Wotowey went on to earn a master’s degree in exercise physiology and kinesiology at the University of Texas at Tyler. While working towards her degree, Wotowey worked at Longview Physical Therapy Clinic and was the head licensed athletic trainer for White Oak Independent School District.
Wotowey was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. When not working with athletes, Wotowey enjoys outdoor activities, particularly mountain biking, cycling, skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. Other hobbies include traveling, watching sports and spending time with family and friends.
