Tanner Massey

Tanner Massey enters his first season as an assistant coach with Air Force men’s basketball for the 2026-27 season.
Massey comes to the Academy with nearly two decades of experience in the NBA G League, FIBA, NCAA, NAIA, and the high school level. Last season in 2025-26, he was an assistant coach at St. Francis University.
At St. Francis, Massey was heavily involved in offensive game-planning. Under his tutelage, the Red Flash led the NEC in scoring and three’s made in 2025-26.
Prior to his stint at St. Francis, he was the head coach at Atlantic Collegiate Academy High School in South Carolina, leading the team to a South Carolina State title with a 24-3 overall record and an 11-1 conference mark.
Before his position in South Carolina, Massey served as the associate head coach at Goldey-Beacom, an NCAA Division II program for the 2023-24 season. He helped the team finish third in the league, while ranking first in three-point percentage and third in scoring average.
Massey worked in the NBA G League for seven seasons, with stints at Erie (2014-17), Northern Arizona (2017-18 and 2019-20) and Capital City (2018-19).
During his time in the G League, Massey worked with players that went on to the NBA through the G League in Gary Payton, Jr. (Golden State), Justin Wright Foreman (Utah), Tyler Lydon (Denver), Okaro White (Miami), Archie Goodwin (Brooklyn), Kalin Lucas (Detroit), Stephen Zimmerman (Orlando) and Anthony Brown (Orlando).
In addition, Massey has also worked with the Saskatchewan Rattlers (CEBL, summers 2022-2023) and B.C. Nokia (Korisliiga, 2022-23), Syrian National Team (2021), Fraser Valley Bandits (CEBL, 2021), Hiroshima (Japanese B-League, 2017), and Union College (NAIA, 2013-14).
Massey graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2010 with a degree in communications. He was the team manager for the Coastal Carolina men's basketball team.
