Woods Earns Boxer Of The Week Honors

Frankie Woods from cadet squadron 28 won a decision over Clell Knight from cadet squadron 2 to earn Boxer of the Week honors during a 16-bout card on Friday, Nov. 2, in the Cadet Gym boxing arena.
The match was one of the best of the evening, according to head boxing coach Eddie Weichers, Jr. Watching the two boxers as they went toe-to-toe was the production and talent crew from ESPN's Game Day show. They were at the Academy to broadcast their program live from the Terrazzo on Saturday prior to the Air Force-Army football game.
"The Woods-Knight bout was a real battle," Weichers said. "Woods landed more often and had Clell backing up. I thought, like the judges, that Woods was the effective aggressor and forced the pace during the bout."
