Both Falcons swam on Saturday, Mar. 24, with Toth finishing 43rd in the 100-yard freestyle preliminary race and Ihlenfeld 29th in the 200 breaststroke. The top 16 finishers in the preliminary races advance to the finals.
Neither swimmer came close to his school record time. Toth posted a time of 44.66 seconds in the 100 freestyle, almost a full second slower than his school record of 43.79, set at this year's Mountain West Conference Championships.
Ihlenfeld also set his 200 breaststroke school mark at the MWC, becoming the first Falcon to break the two-minute barrier with a time of 1:58.67. His time at the NCAA meet on Saturday was 2:01.20. Ihlenfeld participated in the 100 breaststroke event on Friday, Mar. 23, and finished 38th with a time of 55.93 seconds.
The pair will leave the Air Force swimming program with a hand in seven school records.
