Falcons Fall To UC Santa Barbara

U.S.A.F.A., Colo.- UC Santa Barbara scored two goals against Air Force within the first three minutes to set the tone for the Gauchos' 8-1 win over the Falcons in a non-conference game on Sunday at the Cadet Soccer Stadium.
Gaucho Erin Griswald opened the scoring in the first minute, followed by another UCSB goal less than two minutes later by Jennifer Borcich. Senior Mary Cholko answered with the only Falcon goal in the 18th minute, with an assist by Freshman Raegan McDowell.
The Gauchos, now 7-3-1 this season, outshot Air Force 11-6 in the first period, with four shots on goal, scoring on three. Sophomore Krystal Sandza scored five consecutive goals for UCSB, netting one late in the first period and scoring the next four in the second.
Air Force, currently 5-7 this season, begins its conference play Oct. 10 when it hosts BYU at 3 p.m. at the Cadet Soccer Stadium, followed by another conference game against Utah, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m.
