Seniors Joel Buelow, Leotis Palmer and Eric Thompson have been selected to play in the 2003 Paradise Bowl Jan. 23 in St. George, Utah. This season will mark the second season of the all-star game. Last year, quarterback Keith Boyea, defensive tackle Justin Pendry and linebacker Andy Rule were selected from Air Force.
Buelow is third on the team in total tackles with 51 from his safety position. He has averaged 7.8 tackles per game over the last four games, including career-high 10 stops vs. BYU. He has 104 career tackles and has played in 27 games.
Palmer has put his name among the best to play halfback at the Academy in the option era (1980). He became the fifth option-era halfback in school history to rush for 1,000 career yards. He currently ranks 23rd in school history with 1,287 career rushing yards. A dangerous punt returner, Palmer ranks fourth in the Mountain West Conference in punt returns with a 10.5 average.
Thompson has been a solid contributor on the defensive line this season. He's among the team leaders in tackles for loss with five for 16 yards. Thompson also has 27 total tackles and a quarterback sack. He's been a valuable player for the Falcons, playing all three defensive line positions this season.
