Ashcroft, Schlegel, Crawley Named to MWC All-Conference Football Team

Air Force senior defensive back Wes Crawley, junior place kicker Joey Ashcroft and sophomore linebacker Anthony Schlegel were all named first-team all-Mountain West Conference today by a vote of the league's eight head coaches and conference-wide media panel.
Juniors Chance Harridge (quarterback) and Jesse Underbakke (offensive lineman) were each named to the second team. Senior defensive back Joel Buelow, junior defensive back Larry Duncan, junior offensive lineman Brett Huyser, junior offensive lineman Blane Neufeld, senior halfback Leotis Palmer and junior tight end Adam Strecker were all named honorable mention.
Crawley led the conference in interceptions this season with four and recorded a team-high seven pass breakups. Ashcroft led the conference in field goal percentage with an .875 mark, hitting 14 of 16 field goals. Schlegel led the Falcons in tackles with 106 which ranked fifth in the conference. He is the first Falcon with 100 or more tackles since 1997.
Harridge set an NCAA record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback this season with 22. His 22 scores also set Academy records for rushing and overall touchdowns, braking the mark of 20 set in 1970 by Brian Bream. Underbakke was the team's leader in knockdown blocks with 205 this year.
Colorado State quarterback Bradley Van Pelt was the conference's first-team quarterback and offensive player of the year. UNLV sophomore defensive back Jamaal Brimmer was the conference's defensive player of the year. New Mexico running back DonTrell Moore was named freshman of the year while Lobo head coach Rocky Long was named coach of the year.
