The University of Richmond women's tennis team defeated the Air Force Academy, 4-3, in a match played Saturday afternoon in Richmond, Va. After losing the doubles point, the Spiders won four singles matches to earn their four points.
Senior Brooke Parsons and sophomore Laura Nigro won at No. 1 doubles for Air Force, while junior Heather Shelby and sophomore Gina Black were victorious at the No. 2 position.
In singles, Parsons defeated Jeannette Cluskey at No. 1, 6-4, 6-3, while junior Kelli O'Bryant beat Casey Cohen, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4. The match came down to the No. 3 singles match, where Richmond's Lindsay Cox beat Shelby, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3 in the tiebreak).
