FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Brian Greene scored 18 points, 14 in the second half, and had 15 rebounds as Colorado State held off Air Force 51-49 on Saturday night.
Matt Nelson added 15 points for Colorado State (13-4, 2-0 Mountain West Conference). Greene was 5-for-8 shooting and hit his first three shots of the second half.
Air Force (9-6, 0-2) held Colorado State to 29 points below its season average. CSU had 10 turnovers.
Tom Bellairs had 16 points for Air Force and Tim Keller added 12.
CSU trailed 20-18 at the half, but Greene hit three jumpers and a free throw to start the second half, tying the game at 27.
Colorado State appeared to be pulling away after Greene tipped in Shelton Johnson's missed jumper for a 39-33 lead with 10:29 left. But Keller hit a 3-pointer to get the Falcons within 39-36.
Colorado State made it 44-36 on Michael Morris' basket and layup and Nelson's rebound basket. Air Force missed its next five shots and didn't score again until Keller's 3-pointer with 4:21 left.
The Falcons got within 48-42 with 1:07 left, but Greene hit two free throws to make it 50-44.
It was the Falcons' 21st straight Mountain West road loss since winning at San Diego State on Jan. 20, 2000.
