Cougars shut out Falcons, 4-0

BYU scored two goals in each half as the Cougars defeated Air Force, 4-0, in a Mountain West Conference women's soccer game Saturday night, Oct. 11, in Provo, Utah.
BYU, ranked 17th in the nation, improved to 10-3-1 and 2-0 in the MWC. Air Force fell to 5-7-1 overall and 0-2 in the MWC.
Cougar midfielder Aleisha Rose gave BYU a 1-0 lead with a free kick from 25 yards out in the 33rd minute. With 2:21 remaining in the half, Amberlea Anderson scored from Nicole Jensen for a 2-0 lead.
BYU's Terra Bigelow and Charlene Lui scored midway through the second half as the Cougars remained unbeaten in conference play.
The Cougars outshot the Falcons, 29-2 overall and 18-2 on goal. Falcon senior goalkeeper J.J. Wolf made 11 saves while Falcon defenders made three saves. Cougar goalkeeper Ashley Smith played the first 75 minutes and made just one save. The team was credited with the other save. Natalie Evans played the final 15 minutes for the Cougars.
Air Force returns home to host cross-town rival Colorado College, Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Cadet Soccer Stadium.
