Falcons Sweep Wyoming, 3-0, In Conference Play

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force volleyball team defeated Wyoming 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Cadet East Gym. The Falcons swept the Cowgirls 30-26, 30-28 and 30-26, to improve to 11-8 on the season and 2-4 in Mountain West action. With the loss, Wyoming moves to 13-8 overall (2-4 MWC).
With the win, the Falcons snap a four-game skid against conference foes. The sweep was Air Force's first since late September, when they took New Mexico in three games to open league play.
The first game was evenly matched, as both teams posted 14 kills on 44 attacks. Air Force posted four aces to Wyoming's one. After posting more similar statistics in the second game, the Falcons went on several runs in the third game behind six Delavane Diaz kills to secure the sweep, posting a hitting percentage of .283 (18k-5e-46a) to Wyoming's .178 (15k-7e-45a).
Three Falcons posted double digit kills in the three-game match. Diaz led the team with 13 kills, while Kristin Hamlett and Lamecca Jefferson recorded kill totals of 11 and 10, respectively. Kristin Huitt posted 37 assists and Jenalee Burke led the squad with 14 digs.
Up next for the Falcons is a match against conference leader, Colorado State, tomorrow (Oct. 18) at the East Gym. The No. 20 Rams are currently 14-4 on the season and undefeated in league play.
