Air Force Loses To San Diego State, 1-0

USAF Academy, Colo. - The Air Force women's soccer team failed to produce on several scoring opportunities, allowing San Diego State to capitalize with a 1-0 Mountain West Conference win Friday evening, Oct. 24, at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The loss drops the Falcons to 6-9-1 overall and 0-4-0 in conference play.
San Diego State improved to 7-8-1 overall and 2-2-0 in conference action.
The golden-goal came in the 77th minute, when Aztec forward Becky Prilaman took a Kim Castellanos corner kick from the left side and headed the ball past Falcon goalkeeper J.J. Wolf for the lone score.
AFA had several opportunities to score in the second period, but could not get the ball past SDSU goalkeeper Stephanie Pearson, who recorded her sixth shutout of the season.
The first period of play was a defensive battle as the two team combined to take just six shots-two for AFA and four for SDSU. The Falcons failed to register a shot-on-goal until the 52nd minute of play.
The second period saw an increase in offense, as Air Force managed to get off 13 shots while the Aztecs took five.
Wolf recorded three saves in the loss for Air Force, while Pearson had four saves in the win for San Diego State.
AFA returns to action Sunday, Oct. 26, playing host to UNLV at Cadet Soccer Stadium. Kick off is at 11:00 a.m. MST.
