AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) - Guard Antoine Hood scored 30 points and Tim Keller added 26 points to lead Air Force to an 80-75 win over Colorado State in the Mountain West Conference Saturday.
It was only the second start of Hood's career, which came after starting point guard Vernard Jenkins sprained his left ankle in practice Friday.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak by the Falcons (11-10, 2-6 Mountain West Conference). The Rams (14-9, 3-5 MWC) have lost four straight.
Center Matt Nelson led the Rams with 21 points while guard Andy Birley added 17, and forward Brian Greene added 13.
"Mentally, I think (Jenkins' abscence) helped us," said Keller. "Everyone had to step up because we knew Vernard wasn't in there."
The Falcons started the game with drives to the hoop and backdoor layups, making 9 of their first 9 field goals, and 13 of 15 in the first half. The 86.7 percent shooting in the first half was an Air Force record.
Hood, a freshman, scored 19 of his 30 in the first half, and had a steal and four rebounds in the game. Air Force led 36-28 at half.
