SAN DIEGO (AP) - Tony Bland scored 28 points with a near-perfect shooting performance in San Diego State's 67-53 win over Air Force on Saturday night.
Bland made 11-of-13 field goal attempts as the Aztecs shot 61.4 percent (27-of-44) from the floor, after hitting 64 percent of their shots in the first half. Bland, who also hit 6-of-7 free throws, scored most of his baskets on drives to the basket and short jumpers.
Mike Mackell, who made 7-of-9 shots, added 16 points for San Diego State (13-10, 4-6 Mountain West), which won for just the second time in eight games.
Air Force (11-12, 2-8) is 1-21 in Mountain West Conference road games, its only win coming in a triple overtime game against San Diego in 2000.
Joel Gerlach led the Falcons with 15 points. Tim Keller and Antoine Hood each added 13 points for Air Force, which trailed 39-32 at the half.
