Air Force Falls to Samford, 3-1

The Air Force volleyball team suffered a 3-1 (30-24, 21-30, 27-30, 24-30) loss to Samford in the team's opening match of the Georgia State Invitational.
The Falcons used a powerful attack to win the first game 30-24. The team combined for 17 kills on 30 attacks with just two errors for a solid .500 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Delavane Diaz notched seven kills in the game.
The team's hitting percentage in the next three games dropped dramatically. In game two, the Falcons hit just .075, committing nine errors and notching 12 kills. They improved in game three to a .149 percent, but nine attack errors again hurt the team. Air Force opened up a 4-1 lead in game four, but the Jaguars took an 8-7 lead and never trailed again in the game.
Delavane Diaz finished the match with 17 kills and 14 digs for her second consecutive double double and third of the season. Kristin Huitt, who leads the league in assists, also had a double-double in the loss. She notched 45 assists and 10 digs. The Falcons had a season high 12 team blocks - with six block assists by Kristin Hamlett and Molly White.
The Falcons will take on South Alabama in the second match of the tournament. The Jaguars lost their first match 3-1 to Virginia Commonwealth.
