Falcons Defeat Virginia Commonwealth, 3-1

Lamecca Jefferson tallied a career-high 22 kills and Molly White added a career-high 17 kills to lead the Air Force women's volleyball team to 3-1 (28-30, 30-17, 30-25, 30-20) victory over Virginia Commonwealth. Air Force improves to 3-2 overall with the win.
The Falcons were served a wake up call after losing the first game 30-28. They regrouped nicely and won three consecutive to close out the match. The team came on strong offensively, using a powerful attack to destroy any Virginia hopes of an upset. Air Force notched 74 kills, finishing the match with a hitting percentage of .337 (74k-19e-163a)
Four Falcons finished in double figures in kills. In addition to Jefferson and White, Delavane Diaz notched 13 kills and Kristin Hamlett had 14. Libero Jenalee Burke had a career-high 23 digs for the Falcons. Kristin Huitt continued to play well at the setter position, notching a career-high 66 assists in the match. Freshman Lindsay Bengard also played well, notching seven kills and no errors on 12 attacks (.583 percent).
The Falcons finish the day 1-1 in the Georgia State Invitational. Play will resume on Saturday (Sept. 6) at 11 a.m. EST when the Falcons face South Alabama, who is 0-2 in the tournament.
