Air Force places 10 on Academic All-Conference Team

Air Force had 10 football players named today to the Mountain West Conference academic all-conference team for the 2003 season. Leading the way was senior offensive lineman Blane Neufeld, who was selected for the third time. Junior John Rudzinski and senior Adam Strecker were each honored for the second time. Newcomers to the team include seniors Andrew Martin, Joe Schieffer, John Schwartz and Jesse Underbakke. Juniors Tyler Hess and Grant Mallory along with sophomore Dennis Poland were also selected.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor. A complete list of AFA players follows below.
The Air Force football team had a very successful year off the playing field, as the team posted a cumulative grade point average of 2.8. That average is just below the average of 2.95 for the entire cadet wing. On the field, the team was 7-5 overall and finished fourth in the conference with a 3-4 mark.
