Falcons Defeat Creighton, 5-2

The Air Force women's tennis team improved to 4-2 this season with a 5-2 victory over Creighton at the Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb. The Falcons swept all three doubles matches and won four of the six singles contests.
Air Force captured the doubles point with victories at all three doubles spots. Seniors Laura Nigro and Gina Black started it off with an 8-2 victory over Megan Kowal and Katie Chiu at the No. 1 position. Sophomore Kat Bushey and freshman Karissa Walker followed suit with an 8-6 win at No. 2, while junior Katie Tomkie and freshman Kellie Crail took the No. 3 match, 8-5.
Nigro put the Falcons up 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Kowal at No. 1 singles. Creighton's Chiu defeated Black, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2, while Pam Gerik won the other match for CU, defeating Tomkie at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Bushey easily beat Christy Roth at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-1 and Walker pulled out a tough 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 decision over Kim Cavan at the No. 4 singles position. Crail finished off the match with a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Deidre Senders at No. 6.
The Falcons continue their road trip on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the University of Nebraska.
