Falcons Shut Out by Texas Tech, 7-0

The Texas Tech women's tennis team did not drop a single match Saturday and defeated Air Force, 7-0, at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas. Texas Tech improved to 8-4 on the season, while Air Force fell to 9-5 and dropped its second consecutive match.
The Lady Raiders won the doubles point with three convincing victories. TTU's No. 1 combo of Irina Tereschenko and Katja Kovacic defeated AFA's top team of Laura Nigro and Gina Black, 8-5. Tech's No.2 team of Tara Browning and Kendall Brooks won their match over Kat Bushey and Karissa Walker, 8-1, while Lakann Wagley and Hristiyana Gocheva took the No. 3 match, 8-0, over Katie Tomkie and Liza Vaccaro.
TTU won all six singles matches in straight sets, led by Tereshenko, who defeated Nigro 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 position. Air Force's Bushey dropped the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-0 to Kendall. At the No.3 position, Browning had no trouble with Black 6-1, 6-0, while Wagley downed Walker, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4. Kovacic defeated Tomkie, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5 and Gocheva rounded out Tech's sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over the Falcons' Kelly Morgan.
The Falcons continue their spring break trip through Texas on Tuesday, March 23 when they battle Texas-San Antonio beginning at 2 p.m.
