The Air Force men's tennis team dropped its second consecutive Mountain West Conference match Saturday with a 5-2 loss to San Diego State in Albuquerque, N.M. The Falcons fell to 12-10 overall this season and 0-2 in the MWC.
San Diego State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with victories at all three doubles spots. The 40th-ranked doubles team in the country, Ryan Redondo and Felix Hardt of SDSU, defeated Trevor Johnson and Sky Jensen, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. San Diego State won the other two doubles matches, 8-2.
In singles action, Air Force junior Tyler McClung won the No. 2 match for the second consecutive day, defeating Redondo, 6-7, 6-1 and 10-7. Freshman Robert Alexander won Air Force's other match, beating SDSU's Mike Coelho, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
San Diego State won the other four singles matches, including three in straight sets and Daniel Jung won the No. 3 match when AFA's Chris Dong retired after Jung took a 4-1 lead.
Air Force continues play in the Mountain West Conference against UNLV on Sunday, April 11 in Albuquerque. The match will begin at 10 a.m.
