The Air Force men's golf team finished in eighth place at the Mountain West Conference Championships Crosswater Course (Par 72/7,568) at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. The Falcons improved their score each day of the event, carding a three-day total of 320-306-303=929. The tournament was the team's final event of the season.
Air Force opened the event with a disappointing total of 320 and they never recovered. J.T. Hamamoto, who has had a stellar season, finished tied for 20th overall with a 78-73-74=225. He was the team's top finisher, as no other player cracked the top 20.
New Mexico overcame a three stroke deficit heading into the final round to force a playoff with BYU for the team title. The Lobos shot a two-under 286 to the Cougars one-over 289 on the final 18 holes. The teams were tied with 54-hole totals of 867, which forced the team playoff. New Mexico won the first playoff hole by a stroke (17-16) and captured their second straight MWC Golf Championship.
UNLV junior Ryan Moore won medalist honors after carding a five-under 67 today and posting an MWC Championship record of 10-under 206 for the 54-hole tournament. Colorado State's Nolan Martin and San Diego State's Mark Warman tied for second, three stokes back of Moore. Martin and Warman both had three-day totals of seven-under 209.
