Wilson and Graham Lead Air Force at Willamette

SALEM, Ore. -- Backed by a second-place finish by Nick Wilson and a 10th-place finish from Nicole Graham, the Air Force men's and women's cross country team concluded competition at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore., this afternoon (Oct. 1).
Wilson's second-place time of 23:53.80 helped guide the Falcons to a third-place team finish. Classmate Mark Walter picked up an 11th-place finish behind a time of 24.08.70, while Jeff Gosselin clocked in at 24:23.40 to record an 18th-place finish.
Five more finished within the top-40, including Travis Patterson, who finished 22nd with a time of 24:28.10. Freshman Sean Houseworth was the highest finishing non-senior, clocking a 25th-place time of 24:30.50. Junior Richard Elmore finished 32nd with a time of 24:45.60, while sophomore Josh van Wyngaarden, the final Falcon scorer, crossed the finish line in 24:47.80 to take 35th. Anthony D'Amato finished 39th with a time of 24:51.30.
Calvin Glass crossed in 25:01.50 to finish 45th, while Matt Hellier was 46th with a time of 25:03.20. Jason Beck (25:39.10 -- 58th), Matt Williams (25:54.10 -- 67th) and Dan Fadgen (26:07.10 -- 73rd) rounded out the competition.
On the women's side, Graham clocked a 17:30.20 in the 5k race, en route to her 10th-place finish. As a team, Air Force placed ninth. Margaret Frash clocked an 18:12.40 to finish 33rd, while Andrea Pinchak crossed in 18:19.70 to finish 40th. Danielle Pozun (19:00.55) finished 77th, while Kate Papenberg (19:47.20) and Jamie Illig (20:03.30) finished 108th and 117th, respectively.
Air Force returns to action next weekend (Oct. 8), when they travel to Hays, Kan., for the Ft. Hays Invitational.
