Air Force Boxing Opens with Annual Navy Showdown

Action between the two service academies is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m., in the Upper Boxing Room of the Cadet Gym. Admission is free to the event.
Sophomore Dean Chuva, the Wing Open runner-up at 112-pounds one year ago, opens the event with a 120-pound contest with Navy's Huy Truong. Classmate Nicholas Goc, who won the 132-pound Wing Open title last year, will toe the line with Midshipman Jonathon Liang in a 138-pound bout.
Fellow sophomore Sean May is paired with Ruben Zweiben of Navy at 150 pounds, while classmate Rudy Bowen is matched-up with Midshipman BJ Richardson at 152 pounds. Junior Daryn Nelson faces Navy's Cannon Pattillo at 160 pounds.
Moving up into the heavier weight classes, sophomore Wing Open (195-pounds) champion Andrew Catoire will face Midshipman Matt Cox at 185 pounds, while senior Dustin Mayne will host Alex Rios of Navy in the ring at 190 pounds. Junior John Quinn, NCBA All-American and 2006 national bronze medalist, closes out the evening with a 195-pound showdown with Navy's Dan Tarpey.
