Nicholas Goc Named Boxer of the Week

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Following the Air Force boxing team's season-opening contest with service academy rival Navy, sophomore Nicholas Goc was named the Academy's Boxer of the Week. One of five Falcons to declare victory over their Midshipmen counterparts, Goc defeated Navy's Jonathon Liang in a 138-pound bout.

"It was one of the best bouts," head coach Eddie Weichers said the following day. "Both boxers have national experience and it showed throughout the match. Nick used relentless body shots to slow down Liang and then earned points from a hard left to the body. He's becoming a force to be reckoned with."

Air Force returns to the ring on Oct. 14 for the first round of Friday Night Fights. Action begins at 4:30 p.m., in the Upper Boxing Room of the Cadet Gym.
