Falcons finish third against Nebraska-Lincoln and TCU

The Air Force Academy rifle team placed third versus Nebraska-Lincoln and TCU on Nov. 30. The Falcons finished with a 4546 aggregate score. Nebraska-Lincoln finished first with a score of 4661, while TCU placed second, scoring a 4616.
The Air Force shooters shot a season high air rifle score of 2312. The Falcons' starting four all shot consistently with Jessica Palomba, Justin Raines, Chelsea Welsh, and Dan Cannard all shooting in the high 570s.
The Falcons have been setting personal records throughout the first half of the 2006-07 season. Welsh shot a personal record 564 in the smallbore event. In air rifle, Cannard shot a personal record with a 579. Two other AFA shooters also shot or tied personal records in air rifle. Kristen Smith earned a 525 and Tyler Gross ended with a 568.
Overall the entire team had a strong showing in this match. "The team competed with great attitude and mental outlook," according to 2LT Tim Siemer. "We are very proud of each of our shooters. They all gave each shot, each moment of competition, everything they had."
