Day 2 NCAA Fencing Concludes with Gold Medal Bouts

Madison, NJ - The 2007 NCAA Men's Fencing Championships concluded on Friday with the gold medal matches at Drew University in Madison, N.J.
In their first collegiate championships of their careers, freshmen Peter French concluded the two-day event in 14th place in men's epee and Michael O'Connor finished 24th in saber. Senior Nathan Smith fell to 21st place in foil. Air Force is in 13th place in the team standings.
Harvard's Tim Hagaman won the saber gold medal. Ohio State's Andras Horanyi took the foil title and by Wayne State's Slava Zingerman won the epee crown. Columbia holds a slim four-point advantage over Penn State, 93-89, on the team charts, but five squads are within 11 points of the Lions as the women take center stage over the weekend.
The women's tournament begins tomorrow with the first four rounds. The action starts at 10 a.m.
