Brian Walsh is Top Collegiate at Mt. SAC Decathlon

Walsh's 7334 points in the decathlon is a Senior Class record, as well as a career improvement by over 400 points. Walsh is now second on the all-time record books behind Marcus Nichols' 7723 points.
As the top collegiate finisher, Walsh was third overall behind a former NCAA Division II champion. Contributing to Walsh's score were times of 15.21 in the 110-meter hurdles and 4:37.53 in the 1500-meter run. Walsh also cleared 13'11¾" on the pole vault, while throwing distances of 109'2" in the discus and 172'4" in the javelin.
Air Force also had two decathletes in the California Invitational Division of the meet. Sophomore Skylar Morgan amassed 6235 points to finish seventh in the field of 22, while junior Matt Gensic tallied 6199 points to take ninth.
Morgan timed in at 15.46 in the 110-meter hurdles, while crossing the 1500-meter finish line in 5:07.55. In addition, he cleared 11'11¼" in the pole vault and threw 104'2" in the discus and 150'1" in the javelin.
Gensic earned the most points in the 1500-meter run, as he clocked a time of 4:44.90. He also clocked 17.06 in the 110-meter hurdles, while recorded a javelin distance of 175'1". Gensic closed out the day's five events with a distance of 98'11" in the discus and 13'3" in the pole vault.
On the women's side, freshman Danielle McCarty competed in the California Invitational Division of the heptathlon and picked up a 26th-place finish. With 4041 points, that total is seventh on the Academy's all-time list.
During the second day of action, McCarty distanced 15'7¾" in the long jump, while throwing 69'3" in the javelin and timing 2:22.94 in the 800-meter run.
