Falcons Fall to TCU, 7-0

The Air Force men's tennis team was shut out, 7-0, by Mountain West Conference foe TCU Friday night in Fort Worth, Texas. The match was moved indoors to the Friedman Tennis Center due to tornado warnings in the area. With the victory, TCU improved to 7-11 overall and 3-1 in the MWC, while the Falcons, who lost their sixth match in a row, fell to 11-13 overall and 0-4 in league play.
The host Horned Frogs captured the doubles point by sweeping all three doubles contests. Radu Barbu and Chris Biro led things off with an 8-3 victory at the No. 2 position over AFA freshmen Brett Rodgers and Austin Francis. Cosmin Cotet and Kriegler Brink clinched the point by winning the No. 1 match over seniors Robby Alexander and Ryan White, 8-6. TCU's No. 3 team of Andrew Ulrich and Caleb Bulls finalized the sweep with a 9-8 victory over senior Keith Cronican and freshman James Tomlin.
TCU kept the momentum in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Barbu got things rolling with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Cronican at No. 3, followed by Biro downing Rodgers, 6-2, 6-0 at the No.2 spot. Brink clinched the team victory for TCU with a 6-2, 6-3 win over White at No. 4, while Cotet took care of Alexander, 6-1, 6-4 at the top position.
Stuart Row won a tough match with Francis at No. 5, 6-4, 7-5, and Ulrich completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Falcon junior Greg Ferry at No. 6.
The Falcons continue MWC action on Saturday, April 14 in Fort Worth against New Mexico, beginning at 2 p.m. (CT).
