UPDATE: Falcons Compete at Mesa Classic

**Prior to the Falcons' competition at the Sun Angel Classic, several members of the Air Force track and field team competed at the Mesa Classic on Friday, April 13. At this meet, Sara Neubauer set a new Academy record in the shot put at 50'2¾", thus negating the record previously reported in the recap of the Sun Angel Classic on Saturday, April 14.**
Improving her throw by over seven feet this season, Neubauer becomes the Mountain West Conference leader in that event.
Senior Ayana Floyd-James won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.92, while also placing second in the 200-meter dash in 26.63. Classmate Dierra
In addition, Durey and Neubauer claimed two of eight second-place finishes by the Air Force women. Durey and senior Casey Johnson tied for second in the long jump with matching distances of 16'4½", while Neubauer claimed runner-up marks in the shot put and javelin throw (138'11").
Senior Olivia Korte earned two second-place finishes from the field, throwing a 169'6" in the discus and 159'8" in the hammer. Classmate Kim Brady took second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.52), while the 4x400-meter relay team was the event runner-up in 4:12.42.
Freshman Rebecca Burditt claimed a pair of top-four finishes. She crossed the finish line of the 200-meter dash in 27.63 to take third, while placing fourth in the 400-meter dash behind a time of 59.74.
On the men's side, freshman Dan Paladino threw a career-best 183'5" to win the hammer throw. The NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark is the seventh-best time in Academy history. Paladino led an Air Force sweep of the top three spots as sophomore Kirk Devine placed second (177'4") and senior Matt Pinson took third (156'8")
In other news, junior John Payne was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.78, while freshman Aaron Nelson placed sixth in 56.57. Junior Kyle Meakins clocked a third-place time of 49.35 in the 400-meter dash. In addition to his second-place finish in the hammer throw, Devine tossed a 167'3" in the discus to take third.
